The State Bank of Vietnam has just handed over the establish license to Daegu Bank Branch in Ho Chi Minh City. Specifically, under the authorization of the State Bank Governor of Vietnam, Mr Nguyen Van Du - Acting Chief inspector and supervision Banks handed over the license for establishing the Daegu Bank - Ho Chi Minh city Branch to the representative of Daegu Bank Mr. Choi Jae. Ho.
Daegu Bank was established in 1967, under the Banking Law, headquartered in Daegu city, one of the 4 largest cities in Korea, and one of the third largest center in the country.
Before that, there were Korean banks operating in Vietnam. The largest bank is Shinhan, subsequent to Woori, Kookmin and Keb Hana (through owning 15% stake of BIDV Bank) ... Recently, Kookmin Bank has also poured an additional US $ 95 million for two branches in Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi, raising the capital of each branch to US $ 100 million.
The increase in operation of Korean banks in Vietnam is a clear sign for the expectation and anticipation of the trend of continued strong investment by Korean investors in Vietnam in near future.
